Jain Flag Colors Meaning and Significance:

Five Colors and Their Meaning
- White - Signifies A soul which has realized the pure self. These souls have conquered inner passions such as attachment, anger, pride, and greed. These souls are called "Arihants" in Jain. White also signifies peace or ahimsa (nonviolence).
- Red - Signifies "Siddha". They are the liberated souls or the souls who have attained moksha. It also denotes truthfulness (Satya).
- Yellow - Signifies the Acharya, the Masters of Adepts. They are Head of an order of ascetics. The color also denotes for non-stealing (achaurya).
- Green - Signifies Upadhyay's. They are the 2nd second highest leader of a Jain ascetic order after an acharya. They are the one who teaches scriptures to monks. It also signifies chastity (brahmacharya).
- Dark blue or black - This denotes the people who have renounced the worldly life. They are sadhus and Sadhvis or monks and nuns. It also signifies non-possession.
According to Jains, these colors are also related to 24 Tirthankaras in a way that the complexion of 24 Tirthankaras was of one of these 5 colors.
- Chandraprabha and Pushpadanta - white,
- Munisuvrata and Neminatha - blue or dark color,
- Padmaprabha and Vasupujya - red,
- Mallinatha and Pārśva - green,
- while the remaining were golden or yellowish.
Swastika in Centre
In Jain flag, There is always a Swastika at the center. The Swastika represents the four states of existence of the soul. The four stages of the soul are
- Heaven-beings or deities
- Human beings
- Animal/birds/insects/plants
- Hell beings
The purpose of the soul is to liberate from these stages and become "Arihanta" or "Siddha".
A soul can be any of the above stage owing to the Karma it follows.
Three Dots of Jain Flag
The very first sloka (aphorism) of the Sacred Jain text, Tattvartha Sutra reads:
These 3 principles namely
- Right Faith (Samyak Darshana),
- Right Knowledge (Samyak Gyana) and
- Right Conduct (Samyak Charitra)
constitute what is known as triple gems (or jewels) of Jainism. They are also called Ratnatraya.
Siddhashila Chakra
The curve over dots is Known as Siddhashila Chakra.
It is the place where liberated souls exist with the supreme bliss.
This place is above hell, earth, or heaven.
